Can fragments get released out of chimneys from a drink-can fabrication factory?

Ive been working on a roundabout today and there has been strong smells of spay-paint every hour or so,coming from the factory, we think. I can now feel what can only feel like fibre-glass on my face and itching like mad , somebody said it could be brake dust of the cars going past us??? can any one shine a light on this ??? thanks
