Is it reasonable to have home-renter do basic landscape maintenance?

Yes it is. If they do not want that hassle, tell then to rent an apartment. It is your house and you can put any reasonable condition you want. What you described is VERY reasonable....it just MUST be in the lease to be enforceable.
