How come it took the Council of Nicea to decide who Jesus was ?.?

Anyone that has examined and understands what happened at the council of NIcea has to question the truth of Christianity. It would be similar if the President demanded all Christian religions, Catholic, Baptist, Mormon etc, sit down and come to a joint agreement and the president be the arbitrator.
