Atheists: Do you believe that George Washington existed? Why not Jesus? What's the difference for you?

When I was Atheist, I never denied the existence of either of these guys. Washington, I accepted as the first president of the U.S. because that can be proven (to a great extent). I also believed Jesus existed, and was probably a pretty decent guy. I just don't have any way to really prove he was the son of god, because that sort of proof doesn't exist. It is more a matter of faith in the supernatural or mythical when it comes to not believing in Jesus.
